Elaeagnus Ebbingei Compacta is an evergreen shrub plant of Asian origin, belonging to the Elaeagnaceae family. It derives from the classic variety Elaeagnus Ebbingei, from which it differs for the slower and more ordered growth of the branches and for the thicker and denser foliage.
As the name suggests, it has a compact habit, a feature that makes it suitable even for gardens of small sizes. In adulthood, it reaches a maximum height of 3 meters. It is ideal for use as a small and medium-sized hedge plant, for the creation of borders or flower beds of mixed shrubs, or as a planter or pot plant.
Its leaves are persistent, dark green in the upper part, while in the lower part they reveal a particular silver green color. In the flowering period, which runs from September to November, it produces a large amount of small, pleasantly scented white flowers.
Resistant to various climatic conditions, the compact evergreen shrub Elaeagnus Ebbingei has the advantage of being very easy to grow, with no particular problems or needs. Withstands a minimum temperature of -20 °, it adapts well to different climatic conditions, while favoring sun exposure. Thanks to this, it can easily be planted even in maritime areas.
The perfect habitat for this variety of hedge plant is well-drained soil. Thanks to its slow growth, it does not require too much attention in cultivation, as to keep it perfect it will be enough to prune once a year, in the month of May.
