Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia

Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia

Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia is an ornamental evergreen shrub with indisputable charm and beauty. Belonging to the Rosaceae family, it has an erect and bushy habit with dense and compact foliage.

It is distinguished from the classic typical variety Prunus Lusitanica precisely for its greater density, as well as for the smaller and narrower leaves, with a serrated edge.

Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia

Also commonly called Lauro of Portugal, due to its Portuguese and Spanish origins, it reaches a height of about 6 meters and is suitable for various uses.

Primarily, it is used as a hedge or pot plant, but it can also be used in the creation of mixed groups of plants.

It has graceful branches of a particular light red shade and quite small, dark green leaves, to which fragrant white flowers are added in Spring.

The intense scent of flowers attracts butterflies and bees. Following the spring flowering, it produces red petioles, which attract birds but are poisonous, as well as the leaves and berries of all the shrubs of the Laurocerasi family.

The Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia plant needs a fertile and well-drained soil and is characterized by a strong temper, which makes it robust and suitable to withstand different climatic conditions.

Its sturdiness and adaptability in different types of soil are guaranteed by good plant care immediately after planting.

It can withstand cold temperatures up to about -15 °, however it does not like to be exposed in very windy areas or in too wet soils. It prefers full sun or partial shade exposure.

This evergreen shrub does not require special attention, it has a slow growth so it is suitable for those looking for an easy-care hedge plant. To keep it in shape, it will be enough to prune it once a year, in the months of February or March.

Within our Vivaio Vettori Giovani Piante, based in the province of Pistoia, we take care of directly producing the cultivation cells, using only organic products and fertilizers.

The young plants of Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia are also commercialized by exploiting the many advantages of our special biodegradable pots.

This philosophy has been adopted for years by our company, in order to guarantee a safe, high quality and low environmental impact product.

We personally select 2/3 cuttings, choosing them in advance at the time of potting and using a targeted irrigation system with specific bars, able to guarantee maximum product uniformity.
